From the hours our team spent on each property, the time taken driving to and from the shop, to the moments spent picking up materials or even those casual chats with clients on their front lawns.
By breaking down these specifics, not just overall averages, we'd gain a crystal-clear view of the actual time and costs associated with each individual client.
This would allow us to pinpoint which clients were boosting our profits and which were just having us run in circles, wasting time and resources.
With this data in hand, we could then balance the revenue they brought in against the effort and resources they consumed, ensuring we focused our energy on the clients who truly valued and rewarded our hard work.
It was a burdensome task because my team had to diligently log every job detail, from start to finish, across thousands of tasks.
BUT When the year wrapped up, the results were startling.
Many of my assumptions about which clients and jobs were profitable were WAY OFF the mark.
The revelation?
The clients who brought in the most profit were the same ones who prioritized quality.
Not the bargain hunters…
It was like finding a treasure map.
We took this newfound knowledge and infused it into our marketing.
